New Seasons of Chaos to Calm: Detroit, HBCU 101 and Urban Indie Film Block; New Episodes of Downright Delicious with Yo-Yo and City Eats: Atlanta; and a New Special Nikki Chu’s Renovation Diary
ATLANTA – August 31, 2023 – AspireTV, the network that celebrates and reflects Black culture and urban lifestyle, has a full slate of programming debuting on the network this fall. The new hit series Downright Delicious with Yo-Yo continues with new episodes Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. ET. Chaos to Calm: Detroit with host Michaele Tocco returns for season four Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET. Designer Nikki Chu returns to aspireTV with an all-new special Nikki Chu’s Renovation Diary airing Saturday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET. HBCU 101 is back for season eight Saturday, Sept. 17 at 12 p.m. ET. Urban Indie Film Block season six begins Sunday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. ET and City Eats: Atlanta continues with new episodes in September.
AspireTV has recently launched an app for iOS and android phones, ensuring viewers can engage with the aspireTV brand anytime and anywhere. AspireTV Life, the free ad-supported streaming television channel, can be accessed directly via the app, allowing viewers to catch up on past seasons of hit programs. The aspireTV app will be the go-to destination for viewers to stay on top of their favorite programs, series and movies that air on the linear network dedicated to Black culture and urban lifestyle programming. App users can set reminders, use the channel finder and stay in the loop on culture related topics across the categories of news, entertainment, business, sports and Black history through the Tribe Talk blog which delivers fresh content each week.
NEW PREMIERES THIS FALL:
Downright Delicious with Yo-Yo – New episodes return Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. ET
In this fun new series, Yo-Yo is whipping up some of her favorite dishes, cocktails, desserts and more. The greatest thing about hanging out with Yo-Yo is that you will have a great time, with great company and bomb.com food! Yo-Yo is a true hostess and loves to make delicious meals for her guests. Recipes featured this season include Brioche Lobster Rolls, Salmon and Broccolini Lobster Pasta and Coconut Braised Oxtails with Red Beans and Rice. There is never a dull moment watching this hip-hop queen show off her culinary skills. Tune in and hang with Yo-Yo as she shows us how she holds it down in the kitchen. Downright Delicious with Yo-Yo is part of Publicis Media’s APX Content Ventures Inclusion Investment Fund. This fund, which was announced in July 2021 as part of Publicis Media’s Once & For All Coalition launch, will be used to help its partners develop over 20 programs spotlighting diverse voices and storylines. Downright Delicious with Yo-Yo is executive produced by Rochelle Brown and Sonia Armstead of Powerhouse Productions along with Yolanda Whitaker.
Chaos to Calm: Detroit – New season premieres Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET
Chaos to Calm: Detroit takes viewers from cluttered and frustrated to contented and organized, with practical and functional tips and tricks delivered by Detroit’s organizing maven Michaele Tocco of Michaele’s Precise Planning. Michaele works her magic in this tidy and timeless makeover series, turning clutter and chaos into calm, visually appealing and functional spaces. She shares her tricks and tips to defeat clutter hiding in basements and businesses, pantries and warehouses, home offices and even car barns. And with her assistant, fellow Detroiter Rodney Tompkins, she does this in record time. Theresa Kowall-Shipp is the executive producer of Chaos to Calm with Robert Halmi and Jim Reeve from Great Point Media also serving as executive producers.
Nikki Chu’s Renovation Diary Special – Premieres Saturday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET
Designer Nikki Chu invites viewers along on her first ever house flip. Nikki has an active following on social media, but this one-hour special takes viewers where Nikki has never taken them before: into her own diary as she documents the renovation of her first personal project. This is a rare and intimate behind-the-scenes look. Nikki will share with viewers all the trials, tribulations and tips of a hands-on renovation as she becomes her own client and essentially acts as her own project coordinator. Theresa Kowall-Shipp is the executive producer.
HBCU 101 – New season premieres Sunday, Sept. 17 at 12 p.m. ET
HBCU 101 is a television series that highlights Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These highlights are obtained via one-on-one interviews with prominent leaders and HBCU alumni, in addition to interactions with the student body, various student organizations and campus leaders, all to shine a positive light on these institutions. HBCU 101’s mission is to enlighten the masses on HBCUs by highlighting their activities, organizations, persons, and services to uplift and connect communities. HBCU 101 is a joint production between HBCU Gameday and Jahliel Thurman Productions. The executive producers for the show are Tolly Carr, Jahliel Thurman, Frederick Whitaker and Uche Byrd.
Urban Indie Film Block – New season premieres Sunday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. ET
Urban Indie Film Block features the best of urban short films, by tomorrow’s next great filmmakers. The themes include love stories, romantic comedies, dramas, action and sci-fi.
City Eats: Atlanta – New episodes continue every Thursday at 8 p.m. ET through Oct. 5
Hosted by artist, multi-platinum songwriter and entrepreneur Zak Wallace, City Eats: Atlanta takes viewers on a flavor journey through the city. Atlanta, known for its vibrant mix of modern plus classic southern charm, tops the charts for culinary enthusiasts due to its expansive range of restaurants covering every type of cuisine. Come along as Zak explores several restaurants and brings viewers into the kitchen for an intimate conversation with the chef to understand their culinary vision, see a dish come to life first-hand, and witness how these chefs infuse the vibe of the city at the heart of the dining experience.
